A Walk through Welsh Time - Romans to Victorians

Seek out our Romans, then roam across landscapes and time, filled with the rich tastes, diversity and importance of Welsh history before finally reaching the splendid, opulent Victorians.

Take your first step in time at the Roman Legionary Museum in Caerleon and learn what made the Romans such an indomitable force in Wales.

Enjoy a wander around Cosmeston Lakes’ Medieval Village, set in the year 1350, a turbulent period in the history of the Welsh and English and visit the Gower Heritage Centre, a rural life museum based around a working 12th century water-mill.

Move through the years at Tredegar House, a fine Stately Home originating from the 1500’s but now showing the splendour from the 17^th Century. See examples of Georgian Industry with a visit to Sirhowy Ironworks and Blaenavon Ironworks and marvel at Cyfarthfa Castle built with the wealth generated by William Crawshay’s immensely successful ironworks.

Get in to the depths of Welsh coal heritage with an explore around Rhondda Heritage Park and Big Pit Museum. Understand the importance of the Chartist movement and how they sought to improve the conditions of ordinary working men by visiting Salem Chapel Chartist Centre.
